Use case:

I'm a developer at FooCorp. I only care about some APIs (example: Web Serial, EyeDropper, File Handling and Face Detection). The rest is noise to me.
I'd love to be able to star/favorite/etc an API, and then hide all the non-starred APIs to make the site into a personal dashboard.

We could implement this using just browser storage APIs (e.g. IndexedDB).

I think this is a great idea, and agreed we should only use browser storage. I've got a few questions on implementation:

Should the favorite list be shareable?
If favorites exist, should the site default to only the favorites view, or should there be a toggle (like as part of filters)
How should this interact with filters in general; should favorites be filter-able/searchable just like any other list?
Should we be able to clear all favorites?

Re: Sharable - if it's easy? A UX for that doesn't immediately come to mind but it sounds useful. Doesn't seem critical though.

Re: Default - yes, but with a visual cue that a filter is active. Implicitly I was thinking of favorite as a user-specified property that could be filtered on.

Re: Filters - yes?

Re: Clearing - seems handy, if it doesn't add clutter and is hard to invoke accidentally. Not critical if it's easy to toggle an API as a favorite.
