Update to Python Batch

I updated and cleaned up the python batch stuff. I would appreciate your review. I expect the readme files are a bit of a mess, but if you can give it a try, I would be most grateful.

I mistakenly started comments in chat:

ok, so wow this is a lot of change at once!
especially given there're changes in all of the various batch examples
(so generally, it's a lot easier to review PRs that're more limited in scope)
I'd rather have separate ones for changes in each {mc, quantum, etc}
sorry, lemme just keep these comments in the PR itself, so it's self-contained
