Blink effect on new lines

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.

Create a new PHP file

2.

Start typing some code

3.

Create multiple lines of code by pressing "Enter" 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The lines are created and indented correctly but when you type the first
character on a new line a blink happens on the current line
The behaviour looks random.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Editra 0.5.15 on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic with or without Compiz effects enabled

What method of install was your version installed with (Binary/Source)?

Compiled from source

If from source: What version of python and wxPython are you using?

Python 2.6.4
wxPython 2.8
