Speed!! #344

Hi, i don't know if this an issue or a Feature_request.

On Fedora package the speed of hotot is incredible, but on ubuntu (Desktop 
Effects deactivated) I feel the gui a little slow ..

Of course since a couple versions the speed of the application has been 
increased, but when i read the tweets sliding down make the application slow.

I'm running on a netbook (Atom 1.6 ghz, 1GB RAM, etc, etc)..
