I had used a weekglass just before logging out. When I logged back in, the 
money was gone and the item was gone from the inventory as they should be, but 
the time remaining for level up was still what it had been before I used the 
weekglass.

While very unlikely, it is possible I gained several days worth of time without 
noticing, however no penalties from logging out and logging in were present as 
it was done using the command rather than quitting IRC without logging out
