Old settings file in effect after upgrade #6

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. @gergtreble reported an issue with old settings still in effect after 
upgrade
2. upgrade the installed version and previous settings will be "stuck" in the 
application.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Upgrading the script should remove any previous version of settings stored on 
the machine.
