Zimbra GAL Support #47

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Zimbra supports ActiveSync Exchange connections. The GAL works fine in the
iPhone, so I believe it should work here.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Add Zimbra Account
2. Search for someone
3. Phone displays the message: "exchange server rejected request with error500"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The results of my search.

What version of the product are you using?

1.2.2

What version of Android are you running?

2.3

What version of Exchange are you connecting to?

Zimbra 6.0.6

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi there
Thank you for your message and trying my app.

A few questions / suggestions

- Please make sure that you enable SSL, if your Exchange server runs on https
- Check the "Accept all SSL certificates" if your company uses a self signed
cert.
- The server name should not contain http or https. It should be in this format
mail.example.com
- Please include your domain name and username in this format DOMAIN\USERNAME.
The slash is required.
- Are you able to connect to your email server via the default Android mail
client?

If none of these help, will you be willing to install a DEBUG version of the
app, so I can get to the bottom of the issue?

Thanks
Vivek

The answers to your questions:

- Please make sure that you enable SSL, if your Exchange server runs on https

SSL is enabled. My server actually works both with and without SSL and I've
tried both with the same results.

- Check the "Accept all SSL certificates" if your company uses a self signed
cert.

Our cert is from GoDaddy so it should be fine, but I have tried checking that
too and it continues to fail.

- The server name should not contain http or https. It should be in this format
mail.example.com

Yes, I have entered it in without http or https.

- Please include your domain name and username in this format DOMAIN\USERNAME.
The slash is required.

This has been done.

- Are you able to connect to your email server via the default Android mail
client?

Yes.

I would be happy to run a debug version to get any additional information that
would help you.

I have noticed this error as well. Using Motorola Droid with Android 2.2.1
Zimbra server is 6 but not sure exactly which version. We are on the cusp of
upgrading to 7.0 but not sure when that will be. Connection to Zimbra server
through corporate account setup works fine but the corporate addressbook app
gives the error500 when I try to perform a search. It appears that the
connection works properly though.

Hope that is helpful. I will follow this thread and would be happy to test out
if need be.

Can you please uninstall the older version of the app, and then try the Debug
build 1.2.2.1 beta2 release?

http://code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/downloads/list

This build that takes the information that is retrieved from the Zimbra server
and sends them to me via email.

Please note
- The email does not get sent to me automatically.
- You can see and edit the contents of the email before you hit send. That way
you can be assured that I am not acquiring any of your personal information.
- Also if you like the source code for this release, you can see it here
http://code.google.com/p/corporateaddressbook/source/browse/#svn%2Fbranches%2Fde
bug_1.2.2

You will need to enable installation of applications from Unknown sources in
order to install the beta release
Home -> Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources -> Check

Thanks
Vivek

Thanks for working with me on this Martin and Stephen. That kinda narrows it
down a bit. I will create another build later tonight. Will be great if you can
install that as well.

Regards
Vivek

Folks

Can you please uninstall the previous version and install this new debug build?

Corporate_AddressBook_1.2.2.1(debug1_zimbra).apk

This build adds a few more logging statements that will help me debug the
issue. All my notes (privacy etc) stay the same.

Download location:

Source code:
