Possible to clear seach field by more easily

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Do a search
2. Close app
3. Open app again, old search still visible. You have to do press back space to 
clear search field or use menu settings option "clear"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of Android are you running?
ICS 4.0.4

What version of Exchange are you connecting to?

Please provide any additional information below.

It would be nice if the search field used the standard Android way to clear a 
field by using the "x" at the right side of the seach field. Instead you have 
to press back space to clear field or use the "Clear search in the option menu. 
Make "search button smaller to get more space if needed.
