AC Outdoor Ambient Temperature wrong? #95

It looks like the reported AC Outdoor Ambient Temperature is wrong, if I haven't made an error in my setup.

It reports the same value as AC Indoor Coil Temperature.

Hello! Other setups don't confirm this. Without logs I can't check your situation. Maybe your AC reports the same value because the AC is off and both sensors has the same temperature.

Hello!

Both outdoor_ambient_temperature and indoor_coil_temperature report the same temperature of 35'C degree in my setup. The indoor_coil_temperature seems to be correct, outdoor_ambient_temperature not, it's about 4'C outside.

I can confirm this, AC Outdoor Ambient Temperature is reporting the same temperature as AC Indoor Coil Temperature witch seems OK. Its about 10°C outdoor here. image

TL;DR

This isn't a bug but the feature of your AC =) If the same values for these sensors are confusing you, then just delete one of them from the configuration yaml.

I've checked it. Here is an AC status message: [<=] [BB 00 07 00 00 00 18 00] 01 21 E0 81 00 04 65 30 43 43 43 64 24 20 50 39 2C 08 A4 F0 13 00 00 01 [00 2D] Part 43 43 43 in the middle of the message are bytes 16, 17 and 18.

Byte 16 is unknown (probably temperature sensor too). Byte 17 is indoor coil temperature. Byte 18 is most likely outdoor ambient temperature.

Your ACs are reporting the same temperature for all these sensors. And component is presenting them without any correction. As I know, some air conditioners haven't all the set of temperature sensors, but reports the same values for them. Probably it is used by AC's firmware for some internal purposes.

I think it will not be a good idea for component's code to ignore one of the sensors' values. Because component really doesn't know which sensors are available and which are missing. So only the user can decide which sensors should be in the yaml config.

Perhaps I should explain this feature in the readme.,,
