No Sleep occasionally self activates and runs down the battery #28

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.don't know it's random
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Lion 
10.7.2 (had same issue with Snow Leopard
Don't know version how can I tell

it's impossible to reproduce this using so little information - try to describe 
it in more details. A log from "sudo dmesg" should help.

When I want to have my MAC not sleep when I close the lid no sleep works fine.  
The problem is on about 6 occasions when I have closed the lid without 
activating nosleep in preferences, sometime during the sleep the computer wakes 
up and I ended up with a run down battery.  I have checked Lid Sleep in 
preferences after each time this has happened and found the "do not sleep when 
the lid is closed" option checked.  I did not check it.

I have resorted to shutting my computer down or leaving the AC power connected. 
 Neither is desirable.  If you do not have an answer for this can you tell me 
how to uninstall no sleep.  Thank you in advance.

Ok, thanks for describing your problem, now it's more clear.

You can uninstall NoSleep by running uninstall script, provided with DMG. Here 
is a link to dmg file 
http://macosx-nosleep-extension.googlecode.com/files/NoSleep-1.3.0.dmg.

1) I strongly recommend you to install latest version - 1.3.0, it already 
contains some bugfixes related to NoSleep state.

2) If the update doesn't solve the problem, an output from "sudo dmesg" should 
help to find out what wakes your computer. When you encounter the issue again, 
run this command in Terminal.app and attach an output to this tracker.

I have this behaviour too.
It happens because of the separate settings for AC and BATTERY.

Real-life case 1: I am working in my desk plugged to AC. Then I need to move 
around and take my macbook to another place, so I do the following:

1.1. Click the menu icon to enable NoSleep
1.2. Unplug my macbook.
1.3. Close the lid.

But right after unplugging my macbook, NoSleep switches to the BATTERY settings 
instead of the AC settings, and by closing the lid, the macbook will sleep, 
which is NOT what I intended. After realizing this, I must enable NoSleep again 
while in BATTERY mode.

Real-life case 2: The same thing happens in reverse. After working on BATTERY 
with NoSleep enabled, I come back to my desk and plug the AC. Just before 
leaving work to go back home:

2.1. I disable NoSleep.
2.2. Unplug my computer.
2.3. Close the lid.

And again, after unplugging the computer from AC, the settings change to 
BATTERY (which was enabled). I will close the lid, but the computer will stay 
on and drain the battery (which the bug report is about).

I had a lot of headaches about this "random behaviour" until I realized the 
separate AC/BATTERY settings. There should be an option to revert to the 
previous behaviour of a single setting for both modes, since that's what's 
expected.

I have compiled a "NoSleep Classic" version based on 1.3.1 without separate 
settings for AC and Battery.
This fixes all the problems for me with the latest versions.
If you want to try it, you can get it here:

I also posted this version on Issue #54, which is now marked as fixed.
Apparently, it's not fixed yet.
