Once this PR is merged, I am happy to start a new PR adding string datatypes as discussed today to support the full suitesparse collection.

I think the GraphBLAS org is up against the 10-person limit on unpaid organizations. Should I merge it?

Actually I can add you to this individual repo. I believe you should have permissions to merge things yourself, now?
