Notification Issues After Recent Update #3008

Open seniorm0ment opened 8 months ago

Been having issues receiving notifications after latest update.

They're not always vibrating/ringing or popping up (while being active on my phone or watching Youtube). I'll randomly look at my status bar and have 4 new notifications from different apps.

If my phone is locked, I seem to have trouble getting them as well. As soon as I tap the screen I suddenly see a handful of notifications that show they came through 7min ago, 10min ago, etc. That never flashed the screen, vibrated, or rang.

It's not related to a recent and is likely caused by your configuration. You probably haven't granted Unrestricted battery mode to the app(s) doing push or have battery saver enabled. The issue tracker isn't the right place for this.

seniorm0ment commented 8 months ago

I'm not too sure what the cause is, but I know it's not my configuration. None of the apps had issues before the update. Also a lot of them have unrestricted battery. Nothing has changed with my configuration. Battery saver and do not disturb are also not enabled

Everything that happens is after an update. It doesn't mean it's tied to the update.

@seniorm0ment If you're using sandboxed Google Play, make sure it has Unrestricted battery mode. If you're not using it, make sure the apps doing their own push have it. There was an Android bug in the past which reset these special access permissions after reboots but it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I never said it's tied to the update. I am simply saying that it only started after the update. Also I just checked all the Google apps, and all the battery options are set to unrestricted

I also have noticed some notifications, like whatsapp not triggering after the latest or two updates. Nothing else changed and everything worked without problems before. I usually have battery saver on, maybe that's relevant.

Exact same issue here since an update released earlier this month, affecting both WhatsApp and Signal for me. GPS still has unrestricted battery, and none of its permissions have been changed.
