Apps not active when restoring from lockscreen #3649

How do I keep whatever app I'm using displayed after screen times out and I restore from the lock screen? Say if I'm writing a text at a stop light and have to continue at the next light, currently my phone unlocks back to the home screen.

Stock GOS launcher on a pixel 8. Happens w all apps. Turned off Dev Options. Media players continue playing but I have to restore the app after unlocking either from the home screen or quick launch.

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? No help from the general or testing groups has been successful.

We haven't ever seen anyone else with this issue so we don't really know what's wrong.

@Fuzzymuzzle99 Did you already try disabling developer options?

Yes, that was the first suggestion from the General group. I hadn't after installing GOS in Feb but just did a couple days ago.

Also, the same behavior is present on a Seco d user account.

This was also suggested but I'm unclear on what apps are being referenced, can you please explain? I don't have accessibility apps active as far as I know. What are "device admin apps"?

"If you have any accessibility or device admin apps it would also be worth disabling them to see if the issue persists then."

It's also worth mentioning that the second user account on my phone is a mystery to me. I have zero recollection of creating it and the name is one I've never heard of. There's nothing much in that account other than what must be the default apps, zero files as far as I know.

Suggest just deleting it.

Figured as much, but where did it come from? Creepy.

Am I just stuck with this odd behavior with apps not staying open or do I need to reset? Reinstall? Sit tight because people are trying to figure it out?

Try resetting app preferences rather than a full reset. You'll just need to redo your permission, notification, etc. settings including granting battery optimization exceptions again (such as to Play services if you use it).

No one is trying to figure it out since no one else has the same issue, only you.

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl.
