Widgets Disappear in Secondary Profile #453

Open southwestgit opened 3 years ago

southwestgit commented 3 years ago

Pixel 3a Latest Build. RQ1A.210205.004.2021.02.07.17 To reproduce - enter a non-owner profile. Set up a widget (calendar and bookmarks in my case); end session back to owner. Go back into profile and the widgets are gone.

thestinger commented 3 years ago

Please check if this still happens for you.

southwestgit commented 3 years ago

Yes, the widgets still disappear. Currently on: RQ3A.210605.005.2021.06.09.13

h2dden commented 2 years ago

Happening on Pixel 6 as well

thestinger commented 2 years ago

This impacts the stock OS and AOSP. It's being worked on upstream.

thestinger commented 2 years ago

Let us know if this is still an issue on Android 13.

h2dden commented 2 years ago

yes it is. But the good thing about Android 13 is the NFC payments work flawlessly now (there was a ticket which was closed too early)

innov8ion commented 2 years ago

Let us know if this is still an issue on Android 13.

It's still an issue on Android 13. Running TP1A.220624.021.A1.2022083000 on P6a.

  1. Install widget on secondary user profile (SUP).
  2. End session on SUP.
  3. Return to SUP. Widget is gone.
ghost commented 2 years ago

I have this issue also, but only if the widget is on a home screen by itself. If one or more app icons are present on the same screen, the widget is persistent after ending sessions.

innov8ion commented 1 year ago

This issue appears resolved using my Pixel 7 Pro and the latest experimental build of GOS.

pachulo commented 1 year ago

I still can reproduce this with TQ2A.230305.008.E1.2023032000 running on a Pixel 6a:

  1. Add Google Calendar monthly view widget on a secondary user profile (SUP).
  2. End session on SUP.
  3. Return to SUP, widget is gone.

I have this issue also, but only if the widget is on a home screen by itself. If one or more app icons are present on the same screen, the widget is persistent after ending sessions.

I do also have some app icons on the home screen, but the widget does not persist after ending the session.

kubuntu-newbie commented 1 year ago

Still happens on TQ2A 230505.002.2023060700, Pixel 7 Simple Calendar and Forecastie widgets

depiman commented 1 year ago

Same here. All widgets disappear after closing the session of the secundary profile.

pachulo commented 11 months ago

This is still a problem with Android 14.

Balzabu commented 11 months ago

I can confirm this is still a problem. Would love a fix, if possible.

ndorf commented 11 months ago

Still an issue with build UP1A.231105.001.2023110700

If anyone could recommend an alternate launcher that is available in the main F-Droid repo, I would appreciate it!

edsml-hmc122 commented 10 months ago

I am also encountering this issue on Android 14, Pixel 6. Regardless of whether the widget is by itself or with other icons. Tested with Simple Calendar and omWeather widgets.

thestinger commented 9 months ago

Is this still an issue on the current releases after Android 14 QPR1?

pachulo commented 9 months ago

@thestinger just tested this 2 days ago and yes, this is still an issue on latest stable release of GrapheneOS.

Balzabu commented 9 months ago

I can confirm this is still an issue.

Model: P7P Build: UQ1A.231205.015.2023121200

stevenagev commented 8 months ago

Same issue for me on latest release - P6a

shinobinakamoto commented 7 months ago

Can confirm this happens for me on a Pixel 8 Pro running the latest release.

MrChocolatine commented 7 months ago

Same here, brand new Pixel 6a and latest GrapheneOS.

Build number: UQ1A.240205.002.2024020500

Lppsoeht commented 6 months ago

Never had this issue before big QPR2 update. I need widgets to work. Model: P6P Build: 2024031100

Wonderien commented 5 months ago

I have same issue on my Pixel 7a, lastest GraphenseOS version. Doesn't matter if I add an app icon on the home screen or not. When I exit the user profile to the main one and come back, my widget is gone.

cybgh7 commented 3 months ago

After more than 3 years this bug is still not fixed and the problem is easily reproducable on current Android 14 on a Pixel 8 phone. Sad but true.

thestinger commented 3 months ago

It's more than 3 years old, it has probably always been this way since profiles were added.

computerhobo commented 3 months ago

I just installed GOS yesterday and it would be SUPER COOL if someone could fix this bug! Perhaps a donation would help with prioritization? haha

thestinger commented 3 months ago

It's not likely that we'll work on this since it's an AOSP issue impacting the stock Pixel OS.

computerhobo commented 3 months ago

bummer... any known workarounds? different launcher perhaps?

Balzabu commented 3 months ago

I can confirm that using another launcher such as Nova will have no effect.

Also, it seems like most of those launchers do conflict with the default one therefore creating another range of issues such as the Recent APPs button not working.

Wonderien commented 3 months ago

And unfortunately exactly the same happens to PWAs. When I click install as app from a website in a second profile, it is gone when switching to the main user profile, or a third user profile.

Not being able to keep widgets or progressive web apps is pretty annoying.

konstantinwolters commented 3 months ago

Same here on Pixel 8a with GrapheneOS.

OstudaHanba commented 1 month ago

Still an issue on Pixel 7 latest build

LonestarRodeo commented 2 weeks ago

Still same issue. Please fix funning new pixel.

sbucek commented 6 days ago

Same issue on Pixel 8 with GrapheneOS.
