Limit voucher login to single device (Lock to First MAC Address) #148

There is an issue where users can share a login among several devices non concurrently. For example three users can decide to share a single login at various times of the day.

I would like a way to limit or have the option (maybe a checkbox) in the user properties, that limits a login to a single device.

As discussed on the mailing list, this isn't the same as simultaneous users. It's the ability to lock future logins to the first MAC address that the account was logged in with.

Hi Tim

Happy New Year to you.

Limit voucher login to single device (Lock to First MAC Address) is much awaited feature and pending since Feb 2016 i.e. almost two years.

May I know when this feature will be available ?

Unless @timwhite start getting some revenue from developing this platform. Then I guess it won't happen. On a larger scale, the platform itself is aging and by the end of 2018, there will be months before *buntu 14.04 reaches end of life. So, if we want to have this platform around we should help push paid support. #168

Cheers!

@shirishbandarkar I do have limited time available, and financial support would help push things along as I could then change my current "day job" arrangements to work more on the Grase hotspot. Before the end of 2018, we need to complete the migration to PHP 7, which also means the migration to the Symfony framework and Doctrine (as our current DB libraries don't work on PHP 7). Please be aware though, that it needs significant (lots of people giving a little) financial support for it to make a difference, as I still need to support my family. I have explored other options for making the GRASE hotspot make money so I can spend more time developing it, but I'm not super keen on bringing on an investor who expects to make a commercial return, I want the community to still own the GRASE hotspot 100%, freemium and "open core" models just don't feel right.

I need to get the core migration to PHP 7 and Symfony done, before I can focus back on features like this.

Feb 2016 to January 2019 three years awaiting for this important feature. At one of my customer location changed hotspot server from grase to radiusdesk for just MAC ID binding feature.
