Identifying medications #17

What have we agreed upon for FOSPS to identify Medication in the IPS? Is the medication identifier in the IPS the one that is expressed (using FHIR path) like the following? E.g.: Medication.code.coding.where(system = 'https://spor.ema.europa.eu/pmswi') ? And which systems are supported by the FOSPS?

Hi Jens, we should include this feature in the focusing API. However, before we do that, we would need to be sure that all EMA identifiers are correctly set in the IPS from the HL7 GH repository.

@gmej you cannot assume that all samples in the IPS repo contains all the identifiers. Since I'm the provider of the IPS instances in my test scenario I need to know which systems identifiers I should enrich the IPS with from an interface perspective. As far as I can tell from the samples, I'll add the identifiers of the systems 'https://spor.ema.europa.eu/pmswi' and 'https://www.who-umc.org/phpid'. When will the FOSPS be able to understand those identifier types @amedranogil ?

Drug identification is right now the burning topic, at different levels, not just the format level, which I agree we need to clarify, this would be a specification of the lens actually (in which case we could offer some function in the LEE which could map any standard system for lenses to be fully compatible with the least effort). There is also the topic about identifying the drug by product, packaging, or by active ingredient, as well as how to get from the box to the IPS (particurlarly for OTC medication). I suggest to continue these discussions in the context of the design for MVP3, and with standardization group, if we can we will incorporate in the appropiate release of MVP2, if not it will be for MVP3 (expected 2024Q2) ensuring the whole picture is understood and addressed from all perspectives that need to be.

I would prefer if we can keep it to either focused meetings or here at the github issue. I dont see that we can reach the needed clarification over emails as they tend to diverge in topic and audience.

I have raised this issue in the SC, Catherine agreed to have an internal discussion about how to approach Product informaiton within the project using the knowledge developed in other projects and initiatives. We need to push to have this workshop.
