Setting up a validator - steps to get to running #305

On 1/13/2022 I was able to get a validator running by following the doc but with additional help from the community.

In this doc I am incorporating the additional steps that were communicated to me.

@jkilpatr all PR comments now addressed and linter is passing.

Note there were a few rebase commits I had to do so a few more commits than desired, seems okay to me though as I wanted to preserve convo here rather than do a new PR.

I have one final comment. Really happy with this an excited to get it in. I'll just patch it out after the merge.
