There used to be a Thermal Boiler Multiblock that took Lava and Water to generate Steam (I guess similar amounts to a Large Bronze or Steel Boiler in GTCE) around EV tier. It outputs either Obsidian (obviously) or some resources, see this recipe:
In my opinion this should be replaced by the Boiler, you cannot just put Lava in an Aluminium Machine and spin until you have Nuggets, but I think the resources are pretty nice to get at EV, at tiers below it would be too powerful. Might make sense to also reduce the chances to get the Nuggets/Small Pile to 2.5% or less.
This might be a bit challenging to create and/or tweak and it's not super important, but an interesting concept that was used by GT in the past.
