The material known as Rose's Metal, Bi2PbSn, is used for bending pipes. Pipes are filled with the molten form of the alloy (melting point 371K). It then solidifies in the tube, but remains malleable. This allows the tube or pipe to be bent without crimping. After the desired shape is achieved the Rose's metal is remelted within the pipe and removed, leaving the pipe in the new shape.
Effects
Adds a potentially interesting way to make bent components.
