While we can certainly work with the new options of importing all as Leads, all as Contacts, or all as Contacts with Opps, I'm curious if there was a specific reasoning behind not implementing the way the current/former Connector offers, with existing Contacts on email address match being added to the campaign, and non-matches added as Leads. While Leads aren't an object we use a lot, we had adapted our import workflow to this, and it made it easy to see who the new people were. We can easily build views of newly imported Contacts, but the Lead conversion process made it easy to match to existing Contacts where the email didn't match for whatever reason (personal vs. professional email, or optional host names, eg foobar@pobox.upenn.edu vs. foobar@upenn.edu being the most common).

Agreed, we also like the ability to do both with the same button: match Contact - if no match create Lead. We have mutlitple registrations by the same folks who sometimes use different email addresses. We also have a lot of family registrations where they all share the same email address.

This is supported - however, you did discover a bug. To do this, choose "Create Leads" and then select the "Use existing lead (sic) where email matches" option, which should actually read: "Use existing CONTACT where email matches"

Matt, can you fix this? The prevent duplicates option should have "contact" on both contact and lead tabs - it should not get replaced with "lead."

Katie - not sure what you are asking for here in the family scenario. Can you describe it in a separate issue? Are you saying you want new contacts or leads for the family member EVEN THOUGH they have the same email?
