I've been playing with Ars Magica 1 for a very long time, and then when Ars Magica 2 came out, I tried it out and noticed the new Affinity system, which (unless averted with a certain affinity tome) would give buffs & debuffs associated with whatever element you overused, unlike how the original Ars Magica had it so that you would never get effects based on whatever magic type you've been spamming.
Not liking the idea of forced debuffs just because I overused one type without using a different type, I found myself constantly spawning in Affinity Tome: NONE just to avert the system, which was a (temporary) solution to all this, which just gets annoying after a while of spawning in the same none-affinity-tome, casting more spells, rinse and repeat.
This could be implemented as a skill that makes it so that you don't gain any more affinities in exchange for more Magic EXP, and/or a simple config option to entirely disable the Affinity system.
