Ddo you have a small test dataset and possibly a screenshot of the merge operation you try to execute? This would be very helpful for me in order to provide a fix!

Should be fixed in release v0.1.2
Please update the plugin from the JOSM preferences dialog. Make sure that you are working with a fairly new JOSM: at least version 14153 is required.
