I can confirm this on a kubuntu 10.04 java version "1.6.0_26" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode)

Maybe a recompile with target 1.6 will fix.

Especially since there is a blocking bug in Java 7 that stops JOSM from working properly with Java 7 on Mac OS X:

Published build 1010 compiled for JDK 1.6 - Please update from the JOSM plugin preferences dialog
