Description

A Facebook style social network which allows users to post status updates, connect with friends, message one another, and view a news feed of their friends' posts.

Context

This project will support you in learning:

how to use a database to manage data.
how to develop a notification system.
how to manage users and their properties.
how to create authentication mechanisms.

Proposed framework: KeystoneJS

Specifications

[x] Users can sign up for the network with their email address as a unique identifier.
[x] Users authenticate with email address and password.
[x] Users can authenticate with username and password.
[x] Users can add other friends by searching for their email addresses
[ ] Users can add friends by clicking a link on the friend's profile.
[x] Users can post status updates.
[ ] Users are shown a news feed with status updates from friends.
[ ] Users are notified when someone requests to be friends, when someone responds, or interacts with your status or posts a status.
[x] Users can comment on friend's statuses.
[ ] Users can upload jpeg photos.
[ ] Users can make recommendations of friends to their other friends.
[x] Users can edit profile page, including their name, github handle, facebook profile, email address, interests, ambitions, cohort start date.
Required

@phoniks nice! Suggested name change: "Social network app for Learners Guild" (no need to use words like "create" or "build")

Consider giving reviewers more information to figure out what quality looks like. Is it about test coverage? Is it about not using frameworks? Is it about the UI look and feel?

For example, you can create a quality rubric like this: UI/UX: 100pts Test Coverage: 100pts Good file organization: 50pts Good variable and function names: 50pts Code is object oriented: 75pts No bootstrap or other UI framework: 100pts
