RTL with auto approach not working well #435

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Arducoper NG or ACM?
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I have a 6 position flight mode switch and a 2 way switch assigned to ch7 RTL
2. I do have auto approach enabled with an alt of 4mts wich comes down well
3. If I had the copter in STABILIZE mode when I engaged the RTL, if I abort RTL
after it came down to 4mts and it's loitering, it does not get in STABILIZE,
instead I have to switch the mode to LOITER and then to STABILIZE.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

As soon as I switch off RTL, it should go into the mode defined by the 6 mode
switch, instead it remains in LOITER untill I switch to LOITER manually and
back to STABILIZE. It does not assume the STABILIZE mode if it's the one
defined by the 6 mode switch.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

I have been digging into this bug report as well. Do you have logs of a flight
that show this issue? So far, tracing through the code, I am not able to spot
any conditions that would cause this kind of issue. Again, a TLOG and LOG would
be very helpful.

I still don't see how this is possible. I will need to reproduce this bug
myself in order to understand it. For now, this will be delayed until my test
copter is back up and running. Changing to low priority as there is a
workaround.

Ok, I will also try to document it with more detail with a video if possible,
but wind conditions still don't allow me to. Just waiting.

It has now been windy for quite a long time ;-)
Can't recreate the problem on 2.9 so I will close the issue
