The destination of the source flight should be the start position of the aircraft, to ensure proper connections.

Indeed. Thanks! However, the arc from the virtual source to the virtual target for each aircraft is not necessarily added in this case. This needs to be done additionally to allow an aircraft to not make any of the flights, which is indeed the case for the given data.
