Some more details needed:
- Should the "random selector" be based on the current view?
- Should box sets/collections be included?
- how should it be triggered? via a (sub) menu? new button with ID ? mapping of
a keybord key (e.g. "r")?

Hi Guzzi,
It would be great if the random movie selector be based on the currently
displayed list. So if you are listing all movies or Comedies or Recently added
or whatever the random movie should come out from the displayed list. Trigger
by Sub menu (or left hand side pop up menu) would be the easiest option.
Box sets/collections should be included.
I hope this is making sense.
Kind Regards
Apostolos

Ok, so will include in test mode for next version with following specs:
- new function "select random movie"
- based on currently selected view (so e.g. preselecting a category allows to
select a random movie from that category only - same principle like within
ramdom trailer player, but not limited to movies with trailers)
- new button with ID13 to allow skinners, to add a button to directly access
that method
- accessible via context menu, when in a "view"
- map to "r" button to directly select via keyboard by single key press - also
allows users to map a remote key to use via remote control

Will it go to the overview or directly starts playing the film?

I cannot find "select random movie" on any context menu. Please provide exact
steps.
I am in testmode on 3047, I open context menu in Category > Action view and
there is no such option there :(

Seems, I have missed comment from april 6th - it'll jump to the respective
film, not start it directly.
The option is added in the left menu, where you find global searches as option.
Thinking about it, it might make more sense to have that in DETAILS view,
asssigned to a hotkey. (But I personally prefer the trailer scrobblinbg feature
anyway for movie exploration ;-))

Still can't find the option anywhere - maybe a screenshot would help?
I checked every menu option I could find - so maybe I am missing some context
required for that option to display?

ok, so my description was wrong - but if you look at comment #3, everything is
described - context menu entry (I tested, works), new button ID if skinners
want to add separate button and a hotkay.

Of course I read comment #3 and described exactly what I did to access it in
comment #7.
So I have no clue where you find that context menu entry!

My bad - it was in dev mode, so invisible for both normal and testmode. Will
change.

Verified - and to answer z3us' question:
"Will it go to the overview or directly starts playing the film?"
it just goes to a random movie in the list. You can press play, or enter to
view details.
