Update ffmpeg libs to latest (2014, July)
Update mtn.exe to 2014, May
Increase timeouts for HD videos and size > 10 GB

Testing 3131 I get a Windows APP crash error when trying to create thumbs for 
new movie:

However, the thumbs ARE created correctly and display after a second if I don't

I noticed Avast AV was trying to do a deep analysis of mtn.exe and couldn't (I 
left it running for 30 min! So I added C:\Program Files (x86)\Team 
MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MovieThumbnailer to Exclusions, removed and recreated 
movie thumbs for one movie and no more exception!  Not sure if this is a 
'solution' but maybe useful info.

Note I am running Win 8.1 64 bit without TV-Server installed.

I pdated mtn.ese from user provided update and latest ffmpeg libs - we might 
update/change avcodec-55.dll to another version and check if that solves the 
issue - best would be if you could do that, as you had the exception (so far I 
didn't have any like that yet).
Do I understand correct, that the issue does NOT occur, when you disable the AV 
program?
So what is your suggestion? Revert this update? Experiment with other FFMPEG 
libs?

If you can give me a link to another version(s) of avcodec-55.dll you would 
recommend, I can test it. However, as you know there are a ton of possible 
reasons for such an error - registry settings not 'cleaned' up properly, or 
reset on new install, etc. 

Issue does not occur even if I add exclusion for \MovieThumbnailer folder to 
AV, which MP wiki does advise, and thus of course not when AV is disabled. 
However, I never had the issue before updated MF build 3031 which is why I 
reported it. At least we know a solution if we can't figure out the cause!

Other libs can be fiound here:

Use 32 bit, shared.
I changed installer to use 2014-05 ones now, as those were the ones used in 
thread above to compile mtn.
But according to your report, it does not seem to be an issue between mtn and 
ffmpeg libs.
Beside that, the size is really huge for newer libs - 2/3 of the MF isntaller 
is not only FFMPEG libs ...

Testing build 3133 (with MP 1.9.0 pre) - if I remove exclusion I still get App 
Crash error when trying to create new movie thumbs. However, if I close the 
windows message/dialog, it does create the thumbs correctly! Strange. Adding 
exclusion to AV I don't get the app crash message.

It is quite possible this issue is specific to my system. Without further 
testing, there is no way to know. So if original issue is solved, I say we 
close it and release this in 6.1.1 and see if we get any other reports - since 
there is a quick/easy solution. If we find it happens in some other cases, we 
can add a note to wiki.

Ok, so we leave it as it is now - with updated mtn and updates 2014-05 ffmpeg 
libs. For sure this gives better results with thumbnailing for newer codec 
formats.
The issue, that it is still failing for some needs further investigation - 
please open new issue for that (Best would be to find failing cases on short 
files - maybe even public available test media file ones).
