Thanks for this nice software -- I though that HDFCompass looks nice and gives an intuitive interface to exploring HDF files.
One very superficial issue, however. If I associate HDFCompass to open .h5 files (specifically, I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 with Unity), then every time I open a file, I get a new 'splash screen' with big words 'HDF Compasss' on a blue background, as well as the 'browser' window containing the file I just opened. If I attempt to close that splash-screen, I also lose my browser window. This is not intuitive, and clogs up the screen with stuff that's not useful. It would be better if the splash screen only shows when HDFCompass is invoked without any named file.
Another issue is that if I open another .h5 file, then I get a second browser window, AS WELL AS a second splash screen. I think there was another bug report mentioning this issue.
One final minor issue -- it would be nice if HDFCompass executable were named 'hdf-compass' instead of 'HDFCompass', and if it provided some usage instructions on the command-line. Currently doesn't do that. There is a 'man HDFCompass' however.
This was with 0.6.0-1 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Unity GUI).
