Yes, instead of counting years (4986, 4987, etc), counting months (Jan 4986, Feb 4986, etc.). Of course year should change after 12 months, not 10.

Another suggestion made in the past was to have it go in quarters, to add the feel of a Spring campaign, a Summer campaign, and so on

Yes, that might work too (although month time scale is my preferred option).

This would be a major change in the game behavior, so we'd have to think about how we'd want to implement this...
