FWIW, the net boot systems all use upstart. Getting systemd to work with netboot was a nightmare so I gave up, switched back to upstart, and haven't looked back since. Another reason why apt upgrade
could lead to problems (e.g. by trying to "upgrade" things to systemd).
Yes, I believe the only systemd system is pot6.
I think qmaster is also systemd.
(Random update since I just happened to revisit this: yes, qmaster is also systemd.)
It might make life easier to have the RTP still servers run as system daemons, rather than hackily through a bunch of screen/SSH sessions.
The "upstart" scripts for the M&C server monitor in HERA_Commmissioning shows an example. The same directory has a "systemd" config file too.
