I’ve done a very heavy edit throughout. My major comments are throughout the ms. in magenta type. I reorganized the Results and Discussion into one section; I don’t think it’s fair to Nick and Ben to send it back incomplete this time. Please make sure I haven’t mangled meanings in all the rearrangements.
I have made suggestions for one additional page of figures to go with explanations of parameters. Please put that together.
In redoing what is now the Results & Discussion, I’ve combined Fig. 1B into the initial Results. I can’t see any reason to retain Figures 1C and 1D on the Hill function, so unless you can convince me otherwise, please drop them, and move Fig. 1B into the Results & Discussion as indicated. You might want to break what is now Fig. 3 into more than one figure page, and stretch the time-series across an entire page. As little squares, they’re harder to read.
I also can’t figure out what the Appendix would be, and why we’d need one. Everything seems pretty clearly laid out here. If there’s more, put it into main text.
Finally, please figure out why the Table renders in between legends to Figures 4 and 5. It should follow the References and precede the Figure legends.
I think that if you could dedicate one or two full days to this w/o interruption you could get this finished this week and then sent on to Nick and Ben. I would really appreciate it if this could be sent on to them by Friday.
