Transponder TEST mode triggered 8888 display #594

Today I had a flight and observed an issue with the transponder. It showed 8888 TEST code.

It was reproducible like this:

transponder in ALT (cold and dark plane)
autostart (transponder switches to ALT)
turn to TEST, observe 8888
turn back to ALT, code reads still 8888
pressing VFR button switches correctly
turning to TST and back again triggers the issue

It only happens with an partial code entered and then switching to test mode
