This feature could be added it the future sometimes.

I suggest the following approach:

Create a separate "transition" object prefab which can be placed inside the Unity scene (be it on Startup or dynamically by user input)
This object has a XRI Input Action which listens on a specific input
When this input happens, it starts a predefined transition (using the static reference to the objects from the LoadARVRObjects Script)
When finished, it sets the XRMode inside the AR_VR_Toggle script
