Interaction detection: functional assay #116

In some experimental setups interactions are identified by following the changes of the properties/function of one of the interacting partners exerted by the other interacting partner(s). For example, in the article above changes in the conductance of a channel caused by an interaction of the protein in question with another protein. Can we, please, have a generic term 'functional assay' (at a same level as biochemical/biophysical/etc) with, at the moment, the only child 'channel conductance' to annotate the experiments above ? I was trying to get a term like this a while ago ;o) but the request was knocked out :o[ as the example experiments were not clean enough to unequivocally demonstrate interactions. Hopefully, this time the experiments are clean enough to demonstrate the need for the new term(s) ;o)

I am not totally against it but this request should really be largely agreed.

does anyone have an alternative way to annotate the experiment in the mentioned paper ?
