Definately not Entrez - that's the search engine. I think its actually called GenPept but I'm not sure if its actually a separate DB or just part of Genbank since its only the translation of the CDS feature of each Genbank entry with +1 added to the GI number to separate it from the nucleotide entry. I'll consult Claire O'Donovan who tends to know these things.

Please note we do have 'entrez gene/locuslink' MI:0477 as one of the participant databases. If Entrez is a search engine alone this may also need to be modified.

The issue is a bit complicated the GI identifiers are not stored independently in an database but are tagged to the protein and gene entries in genbank so the original suggestion of genbank_protein and genbank_gene seem to be the best way to refer to these.

For crossreferencing GI numbers. child of sequence database ID reg exp: 0-9]+ search url http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=protein&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=Graphics&list\_uids=$\{id} Please check on the formal name it could be entrez proteins?
