It looks like we're still missing a generic 'nucleotide exchange assay' term -it is not only GTP/GDP there - other nucleotides can be also exchanged/released

a new enzymatic assay child 'nucleotide exchange assay', in turn, with a child 'GDP/GTP exchage assay' is needed to describe experiments monitoring interactions of GTP-GDP exchange factors with their cognate GTP-ases. The difference between 'exchange factors' (GEFs ) and 'activation factors' (GAFs) seems to be significant enough to use 'nucleotide exchange assay' term
even in cases when an assay might at first sight look like GTPase assay (ie GTP hydrolysis is followed) lukasz
