Specific nucleic acid probes are affixed to solid supports (i.e. beads). These nucleic acid sequences act as affinity probes and replace antibodies. The proteins associated with the nucleic acid probes can then be selectively purified and proteins are subsequently identified by mass spectrometry Dejardin, J. & Kingston, R. E.
