It does not make sense to allow a user to change the level of validation. It is an unintuitive UI feature. It would be better to assign error messages for MUST, warning messages for SHOULD, and information messages for MAY. However, this requires an extension to the declaration of these levels so that they are mapped to the appropriate message level.
