It is almost impossible to intuitively know how to expand the menu. When the full vertical height menu is activated, there is dead screen space on the left in the middle and furthermore the menu should always be at the bottom close to people's thumbs.
[x] Take away the option to have a full screen vertical menu, instead when the expand menu button is pressed it expands the menu horizontally` instead.
[x] Clicking the contract menu button when the menu is horizontally expanded instead goes back to the current default (icons only, in the bottom left corner).
[x] There is currently a dynamic where, to close the horizontally expanded menu, you just click anywhere else on the page outside the menu. This would be good to keep as it feels intuitive, but we also want the page selection to trigger the menu to contract, too (currently the page just loads in the background and you have to manually click outside the menu to hide it again)
This would be a good chance to restyle the expanded menu, and add a 'matrix of spheres' (which will always be less than or equal to 4 in number, so we can have either a row of 4, or two rows of 2) which can be used for sphere selection as mentioned in the possible solution to #15 . I see this as a mini context menu - when a sphere is selected the other menu items have the context of that sphere. This would mean you only need one 'Create Orbit' and 'List Orbits' link on the menu, and it will redirect to the correct sphere orbit list/orbit create list for the selected selected sphere.
[x] Do some figma designs for this to figure out an intuitive interface.
