One last animation - damage this time. (Actually made two different options here)
Fades into and out of 100% saturation before breaking in half and desaturating while the coloured parts recede: 1x: 3x:
Fades into and out of 40% saturation before breaking in half and desaturating while the coloured parts recede: 1x: 3x:
Which does everyone like better?
Veteran badge ?
Nice!
well, wasn't sure where to put this, but i gave making more hair/face add-ons a try.
mustaches:
beards:
top knot, side buns, and tails:
and some messy spikes i'm not sure how i feel about ^^;
the top knot and the spikes need to go on top of the bangs tho.
Awesome, I want a beard :D
count me in for a beard too
@crystalphoenix These are great! @Fandekasp @snicker if we get these beards in all colors (red, grey, blond, black, brown) then I can roll them in with classes. See current progress
is there a set color pallet for the hair colors? i noticed that the new bangs have less contrast in their shading than the original default hair, and was kind of confused what colors to used when shading the stuff i did yesterday... i basically color-picked and guessed it all.
@crystalphoenix ping @lemoness, here's what I understand (take with a grain of salt as I'm not a pixelist): There is a set color palette, you can find them here (originally from this card). Your additions add to the "base" set, not the "bangs" set, so they can afford to be off some shades (yours like correct with the grey set currently). Anyway, use the new shades instead of the current, this new set is going to replace the current when classes rolls out
well, i spent some time picking through @lemoness 's new bang colors, and recolored the original bangs to match
redid and recolored all the beards and mustaches ^_^ i don't know if there's a separate layer for the mustaches or however that would work... but let me know if you want me to make combinations of them with the beards.
oh! i also added my pixel-diving findings to the wiki: http://habitrpg.wikia.com/wiki/Guidance_for_Contributors#Colors
i hope this helps keep the hair colors consistent as more things are made ^_^ there are a few in between colors i found that arn't on the chart, but this should cover the main colors in the pallet.
coloring the red hair was tricky ^^; it's done a little differently than the other hair colors it seems.
@crystalphoenix you are on a roll! Great stuff, I'll ping you soon when I get a moment, thanks for all the help
@lefnire i'm happy to help ^_^ i like my character customization, so helping to expand the range of what's on habitrpg is something i'm glad to do~
and i just finished the colors for the styles i did above: the topknot and the spiky bits are designed to go on top of the bangs, but i don't know if that's allowed by the system. they can go behind if needed, but they'll be a lil off in how they look.
Nice :) Also, would be great if we had more color choices (first that come to mind is a zombie hair :) )
LOVE the facial hair. Awesome job!
One slight issue with the "high up" hairstyles is how they will look with a helmet on top of them - but with the new armory system you will be able to just remove them when you put a helmet on, so it shouldn't be a huge problem :)
@crystalphoenix send me an email at leslie@habitrpg.com so that I can get you the permissions form to get this art into the game.
Made some scrolls, originally for the mages, but the first one was too big, and the second one was hard to see against the player outline. Added some unrolled double scrolls, and am posting them here in hopes of future usefulness.
@lefnire would it be possible to remove the 3pixels limitation for the special shirts that will be available for gems ?
It's very hard to add patterns in such a small canvas. Here are some tests:
@Fandekasp , I'm going to defer to @Pandoro, @lemoness, @fuzzytrees etc on that one. I'm less involved in art-art, I'm just taking care of the technical implementation of our art (spritesmith, bounding-box positioning, etc)
Fandekasp - unfortunately, the 3x pixel thing is pretty important - mixing pixel sizes just looks very sloppy. But your gradient shirt is great! People will just have to make do with low-res, since that's our style. I know you can rise to the artistic challenge :) Maybe go for patterns instead of "designs"?
fuzzytrees - those would be PERFECT for Quest scrolls!! Go ahead and add them to the Quest trello card :)
Here more shirts. I'll start adding them in a new pull request. Let me know if some aren't pretty enough to go there, thanks !
@Fandekasp those are amazing!!!
Fandekasp, those all look great! Very fun :) Great job!
Although, clicking on them to zoom in.... it occurs to me that many of them have no shading whatsoever, or use gradients to replace shading (not advisable). In general, pixel art should have a slightly more limited color scheme. In most of these shirts, they are one color and very saturated. Try experimenting with some limited shading (three different shades can be a good practice requirement) and I think you will see some major improvements.
For the record, I think the strongest one is the zombie body, specifically because it fits the above recommendations the most.
I agree that more shading would be good, but it's worth noting that there's barely any shading on the current shirts. An example of a properly-shaded shirt might be useful, if the minimal shading of the current shirts needs to be improved upon.
Please continue shirts related discussions on #1969 and habitrpg-shared/#52, thanks :)
Attempt at a mage weapon for contribs:
I wanted to draw a snake around the stick, but... ^^
question about hair_bangs_3 i recolored them to hopefully match the colors of the other two bangs. https://github.com/HabitRPG/habitrpg/issues/946#issuecomment-29119711 the armory is upcoming and i was wondering if it's something that will be used.
also @lemoness i sent you the email you asked for a while ago, i hope you got it and have just been too busy to get to it :) let me know if you need me to try again XD
Yep, just been swamped! You should have the form now.
I'm up for recoloring hair in a wider variety of colors. Do I just go ahead and do that or is there a process to this? (and any requests?)
You can give it a try! Keep in mind that the shading should stay essentially the same, and keep in mind that if you do one, you will have to do every hairstyle, including the facial hair and crystal's new hairstyles (posted above).
I would LOVE some solid colors - like with the rainbow skins!
One of my party members expressed interest in rainbow hairstyles when the rainbow skins came out. I think there'd be instant sales if those were a Gemmed feature!
Yeah! Maybe use the rainbow skins as a base pallet?

I went and made a few more hairstyles as well, and cleaned up the grey palate to make re-colors easier. I'll get to the actual recoloring in a day or two, I'm done for the night!

..ooor, I won't share the file... are there upload requirements I'm missing?
Sadly you clicked submit to soon :x

ah! well then, thank you and let me try again! (I also apparently had javascript partially blocked, thought I enabled this page)
Ohhhh those are great!!!
Notes on the pieces: --A few colors have another bang level piece under them, I'm not fond of this one, it doesn't work as well with the 'fro as the un-outlined version, but it does have the outline that's usually on these pieces (and does kind of work as a mini-afro hairstyle, but, eh.) --I'm going to continue to play with rainbow options --I've recolored in basic 6 colors (I'll probably be playing with highlights on those for a while, they're a bit flat), fire/ice, desert (slightly modified from the pet palette), cotton candy pink and blue. --Any other color requests?
Wow, so beautiful seeing them all together!
Great work :D
I really like them! I might go for a green 'fro. If you're looking to do more colors, you could expand the cotton candies into a pastel set, possibly to be sold alongside the rainbow set.

I am in awe!
...also scared of the Ronald McDonald hair :scream_cat:
ooo~ so many nice colors ^__^ they're great :D
i have to ask, what is it that you've done for your set of grays that makes it a consistent pallet? is it taking out the slight difference between the right and left sides that is there in the current versions?
aaaand I am done for a while. Some modifications to the basic colors, new pastel colors, and a zombie set (and a zombie green and bone white set)
I'll probably still tweak the rainbow set, and make a pastel rainbow set as well.
Fantastic! I love the blues and purples especially!
I really like them, but in the Green column there are a lot of yellow speckles. Something went wrong there I guess :x

hrm, they don't look yellow on my screen--they are shifted towards yellow, but they still look green to me :/ I did tweak the pastel green afro "bangs" a bit though, hopefully that looks better. I'll upload later, no point in uploading for one little change.
