Add an optional OOM checker and fix two bugs in the code generator

There are three changes:

A simple, optional OOM checker is added which, when enabled with --check-oom, will check explicitly that each call to malloc succeeds. This leads to significant slowdown, but might be useful for debugging.
Fixes a bug where the closure flags are always retrieved as a 64-bit integer, even though they are stored as a platform-dependent integer. This led to non-deterministic failures if part of the memory that was loaded contained other data.
Fixes a bug where too much memory was allocated for gmp integer pointers, leading to failures inside of gmp whenever realloc was used.
