Google-map driven consolidated listing of all of the local eateries, with their respective menu, pricing #2

Open elijahlofgren opened 8 years ago

elijahlofgren commented 8 years ago

provides a consolidated listing of all of the local eateries, with their respective menu, pricing, possibly running AFITC discounts ads (that's Google map driven)

(Requirement idea from Boyd in #1 )

elijahlofgren commented 8 years ago

@netelysis I wonder how much of this is already accomplished by http://eatmgm.com - perhaps a link to part of that site would be a nice low-effort/bare bones implementation of this feature.

elijahlofgren commented 8 years ago

Or even if we don't link to http://eatmgm.com it might provide a nice list of places to start from

@netelysis Check out this beta map I've created by entering in a couple restaurants: https://drive.google.com/open?id=14Jf-Za73LpgD4NJm435yDDR1CMw&usp=sharing

I think simply adding more restaurants to this list could fit the bill?

@netelysis Check out the google map embedded in the site that @jacquelineflemming deployed here: https://enigmatic-depths-30457.herokuapp.com/food/ It's awesome you can go to https://enigmatic-depths-30457.herokuapp.com/MAKE_UP_A_NEW_PAGE to make a new page and then paste in the HTML, easy as that, thanks for deploying the site @jacquelineflemming, this encourages me that we can get something useful out very quickly!

jacquelineIO commented 8 years ago

I didn't know this :-) I'm expecting that we can programmatically and administratively add new pages. I should try to add something too.

elijahlofgren commented 8 years ago

Only include walking-distance restaurants.

CfA Team:

I am the bearer of not so good news this am. We had facilities, funding, marketing, etc all lined up for the unconference and all of my presenters, except for one ie me, have fallen by the wayside. Individuals who were complaining about not have a forum to discuss the content of their workshop proposals, once we presented them a real and tangible opportunity, went radio silent on me over the last couple of days. It is the darnedest thing that I have ever seen. I have been hosting workshops and putting on conferences for the last thirteen years and this is the first event that we will not launch due to not having the required workshop presenters.

Although this is a "crying shame" it is just another example that I will file into the proverbial memory bank of parties who too often cry wolf about a problem, challenge, etc and when a viable solution is provided - no response, no engagement.

It is all good though. Due to the fact that all of the other pieces are in place I have been superly encouragement to host a standalone event sometime later in the fall. I am unsure of all of the details but I would like to keep the "technITupanotch" theme. You CfA folks genuinely have my mind a buzz due to the conference planning framework that you have been vetting out over the last few weeks.

Simple question, how many of you are interested in going all out to host a bona fide unconference where we use the management framework to solicit workshop proposals via a call for papers, vet out the best presenters and then host the event? I am not suggesting that this be done under the CfA banner but am looking to those who desire to move forward with a compensation incentive. 8^)

Thank you all for all of your hard work. If the interest is still there we can still offer the complimentary AFITC piece.

I will await everyone's response on these items.

PS Ms Megan/Sir Elijah, I am very interested in your logo design and if it meets with my approval am willing to compensate you for it due to the fact that I will be formally launching a technITupanotch brand. Let's discuss the details soon.

Peace...

I hope that each of you are doing well. The purpose of this correspondence is to request a tad-bit of feedback as a means of gauging each of your current level(s) of interest in participating in our local Code for America Brigade efforts. I have personally cleared my "entrepreneurial/work" calender as a means of making room for this particular initiative and am looking to move forward on a regional recruitment tour over the next couple of months.

Please note that I do understand that work, family, life, etc have their particular commitment levels and there will be no hard feelings if you can no longer fit our CfA Brigade's efforts into your weekly schedule/calendar. I am hoping to shore up an initial run at a commitment level tier over the next few days. Lofgren has provided me a great jump-start in this particular space.

Thank you for your time and I will be awaiting a response from each of you. If you have any questions or comments of me please do not hesitate to give me a ring.

Would it be possible for someone to make the necessary changes the link that is located at on www.hackMGM.org website. Thank you much and once this is done please let me know.
