I'm Isaac and I'm currently a 2nd Year computer science student
Also a mentor for the current first years

I like lots of strategy games, but somehow never get around to playing them. I also love playing older arcade and console games.

More student speakers: Having students as speakers is something that has been consistently undervalued. There are many students that are experts in certain subject matter, be through personal projects or industry experience. Having them as speakers lets them share their expertise with the society.
More lecturer speakers: Lecturers are equally undervalued as speakers. Most students will never have the opportunity to hear about the research that some of the lecturers do, and the society can act as a platform for students to learn more about that.
Reaching Out to Previous Speakers: Emailing new companies, who have precious little experience working with Hacksoc or the UoN CS department before has mixed results at best. Instead, I plan to focus on reaching out to previous speakers and companies that have worked with the society on other events (i.e. HackNotts) to establish stronger connections.
Experience in Industry Talks: Having students/alumni that have undergone/are doing year-in-industry, internship or post-grad jobs give talks would help students understand how working in industry compares to university. They can also help explain the hiring/interview process and what tips worked for them and what didn't.
Hopefully beat the current record of 4 speakers acquired (and the previous record of 0).

I was part of running computing-related society in High School, where we ran similar events to HackSoc like workshops and other events
As a 2nd year group project leader, I'm adept with talking with people in industry. I also enjoy talking and networking with different kinds of people in tech.
As a mentor, I'm comfortable running workshops and talking to people in that setting, which is something I'll need while on committee
