GitHub's UI already highlights contributors of projects in the right rail, alongside the README for the repo. When making contributions to open-source, especially in the context of Hacktoberfest, make sure you're making high-quality contributions to projects they want, not making drive-by spammy contributions just to get an extra PR in.
