FPGA outputs to motors .... can servos be used ? #54

I am interested in using servo motors rather than stepper motors.

in particular .... the Odrive https://odriverobotics.com/

Odrive supports step/direction motor control ( reluctantly ) other control methods are available .... https://docs.odriverobotics.com/interfaces

Best

The current FPGA programming produces step and direction signals, so that would be the best bet for easily replacing the steppers were odrives.

Reprogramming the FPGA to produce other control signals is technically possible, but very difficult. At this time, the Viva FPGA design software we use is only available on a very limited basis to experienced digital logic engineers. We hope to change that in the future, as funding allows.
