What is the purpose of this assignment?

This assignment aims to help you consolidate your understanding of cover letter writing and the most important points to pay attention to while writing a cover letter.

It is also an opportunity to write phrases in English, so try to avoid using AIs to write them for you (use them to get ideas instead, if you get stuck). Remember to check your grammar.

My top 3 cover letter tips:

  1. Have an appealing layout of the cover letter to maximise the white space. For example add a column to the left with your name and your details and increase the text size of the first letter of the word for your name and job title.
  2. Include a job title under your name as it will get picked up by robots who scan you cover letter and look for specific keywords. Hence also include specific keywords in your cover letter which are mentioned in the job description and make it relevant.
  3. The first paragraph of your cover letter is the most important part of the cover letter as it will determine whether the recruiter will keep reading or not. So make sure to hook the reader in reading your cover letter.
