NT is deploying their instruments as dedicated static casts in sometimes very shallow waters where some of the instruments remains out of the water during the measurement.
A manual input in the form was used to tell at what level the instrument was deployed in the water that been said this input is not always appropriately filled up.
An alternative is to use the pressure data an assume that the instrument is held vertically and set a minimum depth requirement for instrument types:
This could potentially be instrument specific since the distribution of those sensors on the different CTD units may not be consistent.
Workflow:
Derive instrument depth. Apply a flag for instrument if the depth is above a certain threshold for that data type and device.
