Progress

Help needed:

There are seven other devices that use the same common device tree, kernel, etc. It should be easy to port them, when this is working, I just need someone who owns one of these devices and can test it:

lnjX commented 6 years ago

Currently the device has problems booting; it boots into hybris-recovery without any problems, alle partitions are mounted, /target/ contains the rootfs and there's no diagnosis.log. Now, when I continue in hybris-boot I can see in dmesg it disconnects and reconnects after some time, but then still hybris-boot (without telnet!).

doniks commented 6 years ago

what's in /proc/last_kmsg ? https://docs.halium.org/en/latest/porting/debug-build/index.html#reading-kernel-logs

lnjX commented 6 years ago

The file /proc/last_kmsg somehow (I absolutely don't understand why) isn't exsisting. TWRP and halium use different kernels, but both 3.4. There is also a 3.10 kernel port from sony.

disable lxc? https://gist.github.com/doniks/2ac14a1bb6750165bf782f62139c8aab#file-gistfile1-txt-L49

lnjX commented 6 years ago

I disabled it, but still no change...

lnjX commented 6 years ago

And I still don't get last kmsg, maybe it's something wrong in the kernel 😐

doniks commented 6 years ago

Following my notes you need two configs for last_kmsg:

https://gist.github.com/doniks/2ac14a1bb6750165bf782f62139c8aab#file-gistfile1-txt-L44

You seem to only have one of them:

lnjX commented 6 years ago

Ah thank you very much! I should have read your FAQ. Btw it would be nice if you could add that to the halium/docs for everyone?

doniks commented 6 years ago

cool. yeah, I just can't figure out a nice format for it, but yeah I should propose it somehow. update: https://github.com/Halium/projectmanagement/issues/51

doniks commented 6 years ago

so, what does the last_kmsg say now?

lnjX commented 6 years ago

My problem is that I can't directly boot into the recovery after it fails to boot. I have to turn it off and on again.

doniks commented 6 years ago

why? no button combo? .... looking here: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/boot-sony-xperia-z3-recovery-mode/#using-hardware-buttons The say turn it off, but cant you just hold the power button until i reboots and then "and the time when you see your phone’s LED notification light turn Pink! (or any other color) — start pressing either the Volume UP or Volume Down key a couple of times to make your phone boot into recovery mode"

lnjX commented 6 years ago

see your phone’s LED notification light turn Pink

This doesn't work with hybris-boot, the only way is to press volume up + power for about 10 s, then it'll vibrate three times and I can get into fastboot and flash twrp to the boot partition and reboot, but the last kmsg is misssing then.

mhm. what about this:

lnjX commented 6 years ago

I changed the manifest to the Sony AOSP sources and I finally got into the rootfs via. halium-boot. And the LXC is running! :tada:

aschip commented 5 years ago

@lnjX I own a Xperia Z2 Tablet (Wi-Fi) (castor_windy) , would be keen to help.

How do I begin?

serafdev commented 5 years ago

@aschip You can start from here

lnjX commented 5 years ago

@aschip There's already a manifest for the device, so you can directly use ./halium/devices/setup castor_windy in the halium source tree.

andyrtr commented 5 years ago

I have a Scorpion_Windy and may be going to help if needed here. What's the status? Anything special to test? I guess I will have to setup my own build environment first and start a fresh build.

BigB84 commented 3 years ago

I have aries and 2x sirius for tests.

This manifest looks interesting. Maybe I'll try to prepare environment for both devices. (However my priority is pmOS, where both devices already have ports (in early alpha)).

Do you have any tips that may help. I'm not experienced in porting.
