Renaming our dev branches #2415

This is primarily a notice for those who will need to change their scripts/checkouts...

As soon as I have time to pull all the levers, I’ll be renaming our main branches across all our repos from ‘master’, to ‘main’.

It’s a small action, but I want Hammerspoon to be welcoming to all who would like to be part of our community.

Don't think I've changed a branch name before... when you do, can you document here steps we should take with our own forks and local copies? I'm hoping that a couple of git commands and/or changes to the fork's settings will be sufficient, rather than having to start over with a brand new fork/pull and potentially truncated history... I like the ability to scroll through the history when trying to remember why some things have evolved the way they have.

Thanks for bringing that up - it will be a rename, not a new branch, so all the history will be retained. The commands for renaming the local branch and changing the remote target are pretty simple and I will document them 👍
